July 17, 2017: Thanks for caring about my mom

I want to thank everyone that has asked about my mom. Since she started chemo, she has been very sick. Her treatments are three weeks apart and she has been very ill more than two weeks after each session. She spent a few days in the hospital from the reaction to the last session and Doctors and nurses have advised her that her reaction to the treatment isn't normal. Mom has decided that she would rather live than just be alive, and while I don't want to lose her period, let alone sooner than I must, I also don't like seeing her suffer like she has been.

And, as a result of dealing with all the stress, Still Another Chance and Voyagers is are on temporary hold. While I am only one of the three authors, of Voyagers, one of the other authors is dealing with his own health issues, so his stories are on hold as well.

It has been a busy few weeks around here trying to get all of the chapters transferred from the old site and new stuff posted as well. All of Chowhound's stories are now caught up and new material will arrive shortly. Bert McKenzie's story are now completed and ready for reading pleasure.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.
They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.

Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKean was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.

He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding.

His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Ellery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters.

He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives.

His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.


So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots.

It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: Freedom is never free!

I hope you will show your support by sharing this to as many people as you can.

It's time we get the word out that patriotism is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games.

Thanks Jeff for posting that announcement for me; I was having Internet diffigulties and couldn't access the site to post. Updates will resume tomorrow with a new chapter of The Wizard Heart by Darrin Thomas. [Update 7/03 The chapter wasn't complete and had to be re-edited.]

Scribe 1971 is almost completely revovered from a seriuos blood ailment which was nearly fatal. He is back writng again and getting better and should have chapters for us soon. Keep him in your thoughts and send some postive thoughts his way.

Our wonderful programmer Akeentia has done it again you can now sort the authors with the "Sort by first letter" feature as well as the previous "All" view - which means a LOT less scrolling if you know what author you are looking for!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick message to let you know what is going on with The Story Lover and why it has been a while since we have heard from him. I was able to catch up with him in chat earlier and he asked me to let you know that he has been a little under the weather. This is preventing him from being as active as he would like and we wanted to make sure that everyone knows that as soon as this passes, he'll be right back on top of that frightening list that he calls his posting schedule. (Seriously, I bet he goes through keyboards like candy with his workload ;)

Send him your best wishes for a speedy recovery!

We added a few of Str8mayb's stories that we missed. 

Lady Cynaira and her CSU Story The Sabres have arrived.

Gary Q's Stories are now here in their original unedited state.  These stories are in their oriniginal unedited form and are courtesy of Gary's Garden. Gary Q. helped start what is still known as The Fort Family Sites.

We now have  all of TheEggman's stories available for your reading pleasure including Clan Short Pacific Rim Division.

There is a new feature on the Stories Tab you can now choose to sort by individual letters of the alphabet.

June 18, 2017: New Stories by Added in Batches

While it didn't show on the top of the list, there is a new story from Akeentia on the site - it is called "Operant Unconcious Project", and is available in "Active Authors Group"

Also, we are testing out a new feature that will interconnect stories on multiple Fort Family sites - occasionally there might be a story that has temporary issues due to it being converted for sharing; these issues should only last a minute or two at the most.

We are in the process of mass adding stories from other sites particularly the CSU and Haven Universe Stories and we will try and announce them as I post them.

The first new stories are  Operant Unconscious Project Book One and Book Two by Akeentia ~ courtesy of The Padded Room.

We also have Ark, Falling, Savant, Drifting Dreams, and Hello all by Akeentia ~ courtesy of The Padded Room as well.

The Haven Universe and The CSU will be appearing shortly.

All of the Haven Universe and all of Str8mayb's Stories are now live!

Memories Parts One through Three By ACFan are now live as well as CSV~DSM Parts One and Two. The Time Chronologies: The Mikyvis Chronicles by ACFan & TheEggman are live as well with more CSU Stories to come!

June 11, 2017: Denny's Restaurant Closed!

No Dennys really hasn't closed but Jeff P. has finally finished A Penny on the Train Tracks - yes you read that right after fourteen years that story is finally finished. Yes it is a wonderful day and yet a sad one as well; no more chapters about Mikey. What makes this story so special; well this story is one of the reasons that this site is here. APTT was one of the first stories that I read from what would eventually become the Fort Family Sites. But that isn't all this story has a very important tale to tell and it is compelling reading. So please take some time to read it.

I have to apologize for my lack of posting this week; it seems every tree in my city bloomed this past week and my allergies blossomed as well. If that wasn't enough we had lots of Thunderstorms which limited my computer use. I have tried to rectify the situation by posting a bunch of chapters yesterday and today. Forbidden Fruit by David Lee is now complete.

DouglasDD, MrM, Geron Kees, and the Voyagers Authors have been busy posting as well. I will continue to post chapters as fast and as often as I am able. Zarek Dragon and TrueFan are helping as well their health and writing permitting.

We have new stories from Arthur and MultiMapper.

We now have 2942 Chapters available for your reading pleasure.

June 1, 2017: A Special Place Trilogy Finished

You ever have a thought or a part of your story that you wanted to show a thought but didn't want to confuse the reader by having it in there? That is a good place for Bootbox.


Jim looked at his best friend and said, "I'm happy just being with you." But he really thought, "I wonder what it would be like giving him head."

Using Bootbox, it could be...

Jim looked at his best friend and said, "I'm happy just being with you." (bootbox start)I wonder what it would be like giving him head.(bootbox break) He really thought. (bootbox end)

What the reader would see is...

Jim looked at his best friend and said, "I'm happy just being with you." He really thought.

And when they clicked on "He really thought." they would see

I wonder what it would be like giving him head.

Mind you, that really isn't confusing, but is a simple sentence to show how BootBox works... I'm sure some of you are aware of how to use this, but myself, I needed to see an example of how to do it, so I am passing that information along. Other uses for bootbox would if you used a foot note, or if you use a foreign language and want to NOT have the translation in the story... There are many uses for hiding text, but making it available for the reader with just a click.

May 25, 2017: More Chapters and a New Story

Well folks I did get a few more chapters posted, albeit a bit later than i had planned. DouglasDD has been busy as well. Ivor Slipper has brought us a New Short Story with a twist and it is the very first story of its type on the site.

Don't forget to drop a line to the authors and tell them thanks for writing their stories.

Thanks again for those of you who have donated funds toward the new keyboard and monitor. The new keyboard is working great, however, I need a few more bucks for the new monitor.

Folks I will be taking a posting break until this coming Wednesday evening; I need to spend some time away from my computer and let my back relax a bit. I will still be checking emails and will respond as soon as I can. There is still a lot of new material to read.

We added a "Faster Than Light" Chart and Graph to the SS Sooloo Spec Page so that when we mention a speed, you can determine how fast the ship is traveling. And if you get the gumption to compare it to Star Trek's Warp, you will notice that it is NOT the same.

May 20, 2017: A Special Place Completed

I have finished posting all Fifty Nine Chapters of A Special Place by Sequoyah Pendor. This story is one of my favourites of all time. I will start posting The Concord Five and The Oberlin Five tomorrow. These stories will be posted as a single story instead of two separate stories. The chapter numbers will contain the Chapter Number and The Story Title. The stories need to be read in the chronological order that they were posted in; other wise they don't make a whole lot of sense. You may read two chapters of one story then one of the other and vice a versa. However, once you start reading everything will make sense.

Welcome to The Story Lover's Home this is a totally redesigned site and should be easier and faster to use. We have five New Authors: ColumbusGuy, MrM, Geron Kees, Don Cornelius and Ivor Slipper. We also have New Stories by some of our existing authors.

This site is still under construction and we will be posting more chapters daily. The Clan Short Universe and The Haven Universe are on hold and will be posted once some more software fixes in the background are completed.

Look around find some new stories to read and have a great time. If you come across any problem please click on the Contact Us link under Features.
