November 6, 2018: Three Miilion Total Views And Still Rolling

Folks,

Sometime yesterday while I was sleeping we broke the Three Million Total View Mark! We not only broke it we smashed it as the current number is 3,005,413 Total View Count. All of this has happened since the relaunch of the site on May 14, 2017, only 535 Days, amazing.

Thanks again to all of you wonderful readers for reading the stories on the site. A big thanks also to all of the wonderful authors whose stories are what attract you readers in the first place.

This site wouldn't be the success that it is without all of the authors, editors, and readers that keep the site growing. Thank you all very much, this site has exceeded my wildest dreams. Considering the fact that Uncle August gave me my site because he didn't like my email address! If he could only see it now. Uncle August, I will always miss you.

On to other news, thanks to those of you that have written with wishes for my better health, they are greatly appreciated. I am on the mend and hope to resume editing and posting tomorrow. I am slightly behind responding to emails, however, I hope to get caught up today.

Hurricane Michael devastated the Florida Panhandle and is now causing more flooding in the Carolinas. The Carolinas are still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Florence. The Fort Family was extremely lucky, all of our authors that live in the path of both hurricanes survived unscathed as far as we know. October 9, 2018: The Power Of An Email

Dear Readers,

I want to thank all of the readers that have emailed authors with their comments.  Emails from readers are very important and as we have said many times emails from our readers are the only pay that us authors receive. There are several authors on this site and other Fort Family Sites that have either continued stories and or written new ones thanks to emails from readers. I do have to admit that I am one of them, My Christmas Story The Ghost of Christmas Present was written as a one-shot Short Story for a Christmas Event. Due to emails from readers and a pesky editor or two, I wrote more chapters and I have plotted out the fifth chapter already. Several of MultiMapper's stories are now series thanks to reader input and requests. There are quite a few more that I can mention, however, I want to keep this message fairly short.

However, that isn't all emails can do, an email from a reader convinced an author to join the site, now that is powerful.

There are a few things to keep in mind when emailing authors, there are quite a few authors on our site that are brand new or fairly new to writing. There are also quite a few authors for whom English is not their native language, for these authors, the grammar, sentence structure and even spelling are going to a bit different from a lot of stories that you read. We also have quite a few authors that we twisted their arms into being hosted as authors. All authors need positive feedback and yes at times even negative feedback. However, even negative comments can be made in a positive manner. I am currently working with an author that was using multiple spellings for the same word due to the fact that English was not his Native Language and his word processor didn't support his version of English. We have worked with him and he is using one language for his spelling. Instead of telling an author that he needs an editor or a new editor cause his writing sucks, suggest that he might consider an editor to improve his/her writing because he has a good storyline or characters. The very first chapter that I ever wrote and had posted on a web had no dialogue in it because I didn't know how to write dialogue so I just left it out. Another author and site owner kindly suggested that I could make my story better by adding dialogue, I started reading a lot more stories including his to see how other authors handled dialogue and over fourteen years later I am still working on improving my dialogue. If he had just told me that my writing sucked, and didn't mention the lack of dialogue I wouldn't be writing today. So please remember when sending an author an email try and remain positive even when you are writing about some negative things. You can also email me if you think an author needs a lot of help and I will see what I can do. The right type of email can be a powerful boost for an author.

We have received our first entry and it was perfect, it hit the nail right on the head for the theme. So the rest of you get out your keyboards, pen, and or pencils and get writing.

The 2018 Fort Family of Sites Fall Short Story Event's theme is: A Thanksgiving Dinner Surprise! ~ You and your family (who do not know you're gay) decide this year to go out for their Thanksgiving Feast. Mid-way through the meal, someone stops by your table. You are horrified to find out it was a guy you just started dating, who doesn't know you're not out to your family...

As usual, this event is open to all readers and authors of the Fort Family Sites, however, if anyone knows of an author from another site that would like to enter this even just ask them to click on the following link Story Submissions. My staff and I would love to see lots of new authors entering this year.

The rules/guidelines are as follows: Must be theme related should be a minimum of 500 words and no longer than 15,000 words. These are not carved in stone, so please submit away. Submissions are due no later than Midnight PDT on November 17, 2018. All submissions will be posted on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018. Please include the theme title: A Thanksgiving Dinner Surprise! in the title of your story. In case you forgot the email address for submissions is A Thanksgiving Dinner Surprise!

Some pretty amazing stories have come out of the Short Story Events and some wonderful New Authors as well. My Staff and I will be busy posting the previous Fall Short Story Events over the next few weeks. 2007 has been completed and 2008 will be posted shortly.

Dear Readers,

I had x-rays on my knee Monday and I am waiting for a call from the Orthopedic Dept. I am wearing my brace and using my cane all of the time now. Well, that is except when it is being iced. I forgot to mention that when I fell my knee hit the ground, I was wearing my brace at the time as well. My knee is feeling a bit better, however, it still doesn't like being bent at all.

I hope to be back at work on my computer in a few more days.

I need to take a few days off from sitting in front of my computer, yesterday was my brother's Birthday and we had a family picnic. We also had a Bean Bag Toss Tournament and I was stupid enough to try it on my bum knee. Unfortunately, we won the first round and were very close to winning the second round as well. My knee decided it didn't want to play anymore so I made the acquaintance of the grass. My knee is telling me that it doesn't want to be bent while sitting, so I will be keeping off of it and keeping it iced and elevated for a few days. I will continue with the updates that I was doing as soon as I can. I apologize to those authors whose stories are being delayed.

True Fan wrote this and asked the rest of us what we thought and we unaminously approved.

To our fantastic readers:

We would like to apologize for how long it's been between chapters of Voyagers. Unfortunately, sometimes real life does get in the way of progress. In this particular case, more than one of our authors had to deal with losses in their families, illness, and other issues which made writing an impossibility.

The Chapter that is about to be released came together in less than 5 days and I can say that all of us are hyped up to move this story forward rapidly. Personally, I believe it’s one of the best we’ve put together; it was a true collaboration of four exceptional authors.

We would like to thank you, our readers, for sticking with us and for your feedback. We hope to be able to return to a more regular posting schedule.

There is a little over two weeks left for you to get your entries written and submitted. The last day for submissions to be received is Saturday, August 25, 2018, not the 23rd! Posting will begin on Friday, August 31st giving you a four-day reading weekend. At least for the yanks.

Submissions are due by Midnight on the 25th PDT or UTC -7.

Submissions should be between 500 and 15,000 words more or less and the theme is  A Day In The Life Of An Inanimate Object, we have quite a few submissions already and there is always room for more. This event is open to all Fort Family Site Authors and Readers, you don't have to be an established author to submit an entry. There are quite a few Fort Family Authors that got their start with a Short Story Event. If you need your submission edited just let us know and we will see that your submission gets edited. July 5, 2018: One Door Closes.......

Hey all!

Just a small update; besides the events announcement below, there are a couple of other things happening today!

First is that the Fort Family Community ( https://fortfamilyforums.com ) is officially live.

Also, Timmy's Treehouse has been overhauled, ( https://csdhp.org ), check it out!

As those who have been following our two forums know, there have been some major issues due to not being able to update the software. To resolve this, we decided to take the main forum and make it the central hub of all of the Fort Family Sites that are able to be linked into it. As such, all posting announcements and news posts from the sites that are able, as well as posts of news made there directly, are available in one central location. Thanks to Akeentia for the awesome job!

On the Treehouse side, the software was in really bad shape. What we finally decided to do is dedicate the Treehouse to the most unique feature of the Fort Family - interacting with the characters of stories. Any author who wishes to participate can register themselves and whatever characters they want, and it is an open forum for authors, readers, and characters to interact with each other. We have fun doing it, and it sometimes gives us ideas!

While this is a sad day I prefer to think of it this way, while One Door Closes, A New Door Opens and to paraphrase our favourite RugRat "Sometimes bad things gotta happen so good things can!". Although this is a sad day, we need to look forward to the many awesome days ahead of us. Thanks to all of your generous donations my Mac Pro has arrived and I have been busy working on it while learning the differences between the Windows OS and the Mac OS. Most of the differences have been minor and the few major ones I am learning how to resolve them. 

I still need a little more help in order to purchase Coda, Affinity Photo, Carbon Copy Cloner. Coda and Affinity Photo for my site work and Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable copy of my system in case of a hard drive failure. Any donation small or large will be greatly appreciated.

Today is an awesome day for all of us in The Fort Family of Sites, Comicality is directly or indirectly responsible for the writing of the majority of the Fort Family Admins and Site Owners.  He was the inspiration for several of the Admins to begin writing and publishing their stories. Those stories lead me to begin writing and hosting my site. Thanks to you and our awesome authors we have surpassed another Total View Milestone, we surpassed 1,750,000  Total Views in the wee hours of the morning. Here are the Stats for the site as of 9:56 AM PDT since May 14, 2017: 

1,751,875 Total View Count, 97 Author Count, 626 Story Count, and 6,911 Chapter Count! These are amazing numbers and we couldn't have accomplished them without our awesome readers and authors. I am totally amazed at how fast the site has grown since it's remodel, it has surpassed my wildest dreams, and it is still growing.

Hi guys!

Yup, I said it. PARTY TIME!!! With cake and burgers and candy and soda and hotdogs...

So this Tuesday is a big day for someone who has been like family longer than there was a Fort Family so, he just is Fort Family and always will be... Why the party? You mean besides "why not"? Hehehe. The reason is a big one and one that is making us realize just how long we've been at it out here. :O

On Tuesday, June 19th, "Comicality's Shack Out Back" turns 20 years old!  

Twenty years of friendship and foolishness, and I'm one of the many who followed the lead of a man who would teach us all to share who we are with the world; to demonstrate that when you feel the loneliest, sadly enough, there are many more who feel the same. When you feel beaten down, you are in good company. When you need a smile, it may be easier to find than you think and regardless of who you feel that you are, we wouldn't have you any other way. So what does he have in store? I have no clue! (I do but, I'm not tellin :P)

All I can say is keep an eye on the Shack for announcements. Poke through the forums over there and look at the many projects he has set up. There are big things happening and I for one, am excited that our family and his has always intertwined and with this celebration, that intertwining continues in all its dysfunctional glory, as it should be. Hehehe... More news to come but remember to mark the calendar and don't forget to show off your "C". (For those of you who know why my hat is off to you brother :)

The reason I am using a GoFundMe account to raise money so I can purchase a Mac Pro is simple. I am on a fixed income and without a GoFundMe  Account I would be unable to purchase this computer for several years; my current PC is old and is beginning to show its age. It is unable to run Windows 10. However, the Mac Pro that I am looking at will run the latest and newest Mac OS and will provide me with a solid computer for years. I will also be purchasing an Uninterruptable Power Supply aka Batter BackUp for the Mac Pro, the latest power outage here damaged one of my hard disks in my existing computer.

I sincerely appreciate all of those generous readers that have already donated their hard-earned dollars! Thanks to the generosity of those readers we have received $455 of our $1500 goal. Since the majority of the Fort Family Admins use Macs this will allow me to use the same software that they are using. This will also allow me to avoid any of the issues associated with Windows Ten. The new Mac will give me many more years of writing and updating this site.

TSL has been busy posting stories in the Brynnhollow Universe.  Chapters posted since the last recap include chapter 1 of Brynnholow, Book 3: Outside In... chapter 1 of Book 4: Greater Good... chapter 1 of Book 5: Beneath the Truth, as well as chapters 1-6 of Book 6: Southseid, all written by MultiMapper.  Other stories including Book 2 have placeholders already, so be on the lookout for the remaining chapters.

D'Artagnon brought us two more chapters of Wearing the Inside Out, Chapters 7: Persistence of Memory... Chapter 8: False Dawn, and Chapter 9: Rational Response

Garret D. M. has also penned a new poem, called My Mind.

Refugee, Chapters 22: Twinkle, Twinkle, & Chapter 23: No Comets Seen. have been added by William King.

Scribe 1971 returns with Star Force, Chapter 4: The Next Giant Leap.

Wayne Gray continues his dual posting, bringing us Guarded, Chapters 11 & 12  as well as  Camp Refuge, Chapter 10.

And Snowblind continues with Jared the Paramedic II, Chapter 17: Cleansing.

Dear Readers,

I am in the process of adding the Brynnhollow Universe by MultiMapper and I seriously underestimated the number of chapters involved. Unfortunately, by adding so many chapters, I inadvertently pushed a lot of other chapters off of the main page. I will hold off adding the rest of the stories and chapters until tomorrow and then I will limit the number of chapters posted.

I still do have several New Authors, their stories and a New Universe as well to add. I will be slowly adding them once the Brynhollow Universe is completely updated. Several stories in that universe are still active so the universe will be updated in the future.

I also want to thank Aquenon for assisting me be helping out with the Recap News Posts! That is a big help, thanks Aquenon.

We knew this day was eventually going to come.

Back in 2004, bulletin boards and forums just like the one we used for years at https://fortfamilyforums.com, were the hubs of some pretty awesome communities. Some communities still remain active as there are few replacements for the kind of interaction that they allowed but in our case, we're evolving. Unfortunately, that has rendered the gift that August Christopher gave us obsolete. News has been carried in from our new website RSS feeds, and once in a while, there will still be a wave of old skool foolishness from our fictional characters. So, what's going on now and how is that going to change?

Sadly, the lifetime license that was purchased for our forums is no longer being honored by Invision Power Services. For a community that relies solely on the generosity of it's supporting family, that became a game changer. In response to this situation, the websites got completely overhauled. The ability to communicate with each other was programmed into the custom Content Management System (CMS) that our own Akeentia designed and thanks to one of our newest site owner "TrueFan" we now interact on a Discord server in real time. Email comes in just as it once did and even though we didn't want to admit it to ourselves, the forum's have simply become a huge archive of a time that has passed us by. Now that the software is no longer supported, we needed to make a change. So, change is on the way.

In development right now is a new hub for the Fort Family Community. You can take a look at it here: https://community.fortfamilyforums.com News announcements and links to your favorite sites and stories will be available in one stop. Newest chapter postings are already being displayed in one convenient location giving you a place to keep up with all the current releases, just like you could from the old forum. In the near future, Akeentia will be releasing more features that will give us other ways to share feedback and interact as we once did in posts. This time, it will be on software that isn't going to suddenly become unsupported. What were they thinking anyway?

So where does that leave the old forum? Very soon we will need to perform an upgrade on our server. It's an upgrade that will make it impossible for us to continue running the forum. So, late spring, early summer; the Fort Family Community's face will become that of our custom designed community that is tied into all of our sites with all the additions that are in development now. We'll do our best to keep all of you up to date with our final upgrade schedule but, it will most likely all happen pretty quickly once the trigger has been pulled.

For now, take a wander through the topics that have collected over the years. Take screen captures, copy text from posts, take a really good look around. Soon the old girl will be archived with all the old versions of our websites and old projects that once in a while we like to dust off and poke through like an old photo album. (By request, the new community will be male. Some of the owners think that will mean we won't have as many problems with it :7) May the new community meet with everyone's approval. (It kinda has too though.. LOL! Our hands are tied on this decision...)

MultiMapper has been a posting machine and brought us a new story.  The Shadow of a Soul: Part One, Chapters 1 through 12  was posted and then continued in The Shadow of a Soul: Part Two, Chapters 13 through 17.  He also began posting another new story Brynhollow: Book - A Different Tribe, Chapter 1.

William King brought us Chapters 19 through 21 of Refugee.

As posted below, True Fan authored the heart-wrenching poem Where Are You? as well as Chapter Three of Streetbound.

D'Artagnon debuted 6 chapters of his new story Wearing the Inside Out.

Chapter 16: Career Day from Jared the Paramedic II ~ The Family Gathers was given to us by Snowblind.

Denny's adventures continue as Maxieplus posted Chapter 61 from Ayden's Eyes: Book Two.

Ivor Slipper brings us the second chapter "Getting to know all about you" from The Boy in the Striped Socks.

And Chapters 7 through 10 of Guarded as well as Chapters 7 through 9 of Camp Refuge were penned by Wayne Gray.

Chapters thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen of Refugee are now live. This concludes parts one and two of the book. Part Three will follow very soon.

Part Three - The Kingdom of Heaven.

“But Jesus said, suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14.

Their journey and struggle continues and the choices made to survive have dire consequences. There are new friends, but there are also wolves in sheep’s clothing. The Kingdom of Heaven in the title is but a cynical euphemism for what in reality is the exact opposite.

April 23, 2018: Two New Short Story Events

Folks we are excited to announce our latest Short Story Events! Yes, you read that right I said Events, plural.

The First Event is the Parody Event, you can parody any published story on any of the Fort Family Sites. The standard rules apply, with one additional MANDATORY Rule, you must have written permission from the author whose story you want to parody and that permission must be submitted along with your Short Story. No Permission, No Story!

The Second Event is the Fill In The Blanks Event. You will get the opening paragraph and a middle paragraph and you fill in the rest. The opening paragraph will revolve around the first day as a Senior in High School or a Freshman in College. The middle Paragraph revolves around a party that the main character went to and the morning after when he/she wakes up in their bed in someone else's clothes. The rest of the story is up to you, I will supply the paragraphs to any author that wants to enter this event.

Both Events will end at Midnight PDT on June 30, 2018. All entries will be posted on July 1, 2018, here on F.R.E.D.
The short stories must be between 500 words and 15,000 words,
This event is open to all readers and authors.
Authors must authorize the Fort Family of Sites, by written permission to host their stories.

All submissions and requests should be mailed to Summer Short Story Parody Event, or Summer Short Story Fill In The Blank Event

April 20, 2018: Correction

I am in a rehab facility, mainly so I can stay off my feet. They are teaching me to walk on my heels so that I stay off the balls of my feet. Since I walked tiptoe for all my life, that is NOT an easy task and  my hamstrings are feeling the burn.

I did NOT lose a toe, but part of a metatarsal (the bones between the tarsals [ankle bones] and phalanges [toes]). When they were  debreeding (sp) the dead skin from the bottom of my feet, it crumbled from the infection.

I will be in the rehab center for four to six weeks. I do have my phone , a true friend bought me a tablet as an early birthday present, and my aunt went today and grabbed my laptop for me. I need more tables for everything... lol. I will keep y'all informed.

From the ruins of war in a bombed out town in Syria; the desperation of refugee camps; and slum cities in Turkey, the paramount goal is safety and the impossible: Europe. This story is of our time and does not shy away from harsh reality. There is abuse, exploitation, huge risk, suffering and pain, but there is also romance and a few good souls.

Since I started writing it nearly 3 years ago, my writing has improved, as I'm told, rather significantly. As a result, I was prompted to review, re-edit, and re-release my story "Priorities."

I have been told that many of you might like to see the differences in these two releases of the story, so, as a result, I am posting a 'new' story entitled:

Priorities ~ Book I ~ (Revised)

In an effort not to deluge the listing of new chapter postings, I will be releasing one chapter of the 7 chapter 'book' every day or two. Work has commenced in  enhancing those chapters of Priorities Book II that have already been posted. I will begin posting those new chapters as is possible after Book I is complete.

I truly hope you enjoy the revised version of Priorities Book I and would love to hear your response to it.

February 15, 2018: Upcoming Site Move Monday February 19, 2018

Attention Readers,

 

The time has finally arrived, we are moving to a new host and a new server on Monday, February 19, 2018. The new host's servers will alleviate the 95% of the down times and lagging that we have been experiencing. Our new host is the same host that AC's Corner Café is using and their reliability is top notch. They also have an excellent support staff and respond to issues immediately.

We will be mirroring the site on the new server and not turning off the old server until we are sure that the IP Address has propagated through the DNS Servers. This way the readers will still be able to read the stories. You will when the new server is live because I will post a News Post saying so.

One important piece of information we will be locking both sites down for posting until the propagation is complete. That way there will be no stories or chapters lost in cyberspace.!

I am looking forward to being on the new server as it will make the site even faster and more stable than our existing one.

If you have any questions please feel to ask and I will endeavour to supply an answer.

February 14, 2018: I Have Lost Control Of My Site ~~~~~ And It Is Wonderful

Let's see we had a chapter war between True Fan & Lindon, DouglasDD posted two new stories, Zarek Dragon has been busy posting as well. Snowblind with the help of his editor, Editor Scott has completed the posting of the re-edited Book One of Jared The Paramedic and they even posted a chapter that is only available here. Beldro the Magnificent and Maxieplus plus were also brave enough to brave the deluge of posts and kept on posting their own chapters. Bill W has also joined in the insanity courtesy of AC'S Corner Café with the first four books ofThe Castaway Hotel.

While all this craziness has been going on I have been busy editing stories for the Cupid's Arrows 2018 Short Story Event as well as writing my own entry. All of the entries will go live sometime tomorrow on F.R.E.D and then the individual stories will go live on their hosted sites.

I have also been writing some more of Dragon Earl Chapter Thirteen and it is at 14,351 words and 37 Pages.  Due to its forecasted length, it will be released in multiple parts, as of now at least two. Thanks to a kick in the rear from some friends of mine (Yes AC you are the main one!) I have returned to my original writing style instead of trying to write like the rest of the world. Since then writing has been easier and faster, and it is fun again.

So let me see we had over twenty chapters and several new stories posted and I didn't have to do anything, life is wonderful. Thank you, authors, and thank you Akeentia for the great software.

ACFan is on a roll not only did he convince True Fan to join the CSU but he also convinced Lindon Weztser to join his site. Lindon Weztser is the author of the wonderful story Lincoln, The Family I Never Expected. Lindon was gracious enough to allow me to co-host his story, and I thank him for that.

I know that some of you are probably tired of me begging you to email the authors, there is a simple solution to this issue just send an email to your favourite author. I can tell you from personal experience that emails keep us writing, negative ones as well as positive ones. If there is something wrong with a story or chapter an author can't fix it unless they know about. Too many authors on the web have just vanished into cyberspace due to lack communication, so please write. If you love their story tell them so, if you don't like it tell them why you don't like. Don't just say I don't like it, if there is too much or not enough dialogue let them know.  If they use words that are hard to chew on like I do sometimes let them know as well and if by chance they do the opposite please let them know as well. We as authors can only improve if we know what we are doing wrong, so please help us and you will help yourselves as well.

Now for the not so good news (actually it is good news in disguise), my site updates over the next week or so are going to be very sporadic. I need to take some time away from the site to try and knock down my editing backlog as well as getting some writing done, I have been doing a bit of writing when I can. The good news is that the words are finally flowing from my brain to the screen and paper and not just swirling around in my head bugging the hell out of me. But the best news of all is that when I return to updating I will (knock on wood and Murphy be d a m n e d ) have some new stories to post as well.

I also want to give a great big thanks to Maxieplus for sending C. J. Gibb my way.

I owe a great big thank you to True Fan for creating the Fort Family Site Discord Server, https://discord.gg/R5RmVn2 I was chatting there with Beldro and he sent his story to the submissions address, I read his story and then we chatted back and forth and finally both  of us gave in and said yes.

January 14, 2018: My Site Updates Delayed

My cold/flu bug that is being obstinately persistent has returned with a vengeance. I am running a fever and coughing like crazy. I am going to be spending the next few days in bed, eating chicken soup. I will have a notepad and a pen so if my characters wake me up in the middle of the night/day I can write down what they said. I will resume the updates as soon as I can and I will be adding some new authors as well.

Before I forget all of The Cupid's Arrows Stories will be posted on F.R.E.D. and then on the author's home site.

January 4, 2018: ~ Cupid's Arrows ~ Short Story Event

This year's Valentines Day Themed Event is titled Cupid's Arrows. The event starts now and runs through January 31, 2018, for unedited stories and February 7th for edited stories. All stories will be posted on Valentine's Day February 14th.
The Rules:

  1. The short stories must be between 500 words and 15,000 words

  2. The Short Story should concern Cupid's Arrows missing and hitting the wrong person.

  3. Someone setting the cap for someone and ending up with someone completely opposite or different. 

  4. This event is open to all readers and authors.
  5. Authors must authorize the Fort Family of Sites, by written permission to host their stories.

I hope that we have as many entries for Cupid's Arrows as we did for the Christmas Extravaganza. All stories will be available on F.R.E.D.

January 1, 2018: First Chapters of 2018

It is truly fitting that the first chapters posted in the New Year are also from a brand new story by Art West. His latest story A Secret Love, A Secret Life, debuts with Chapters One and Two.


I can only wish that was the end of the story, unfortunately, it isn't. It seems not only did I screw up posting his Christmas Story, I also screwed up the posting of this one as well. I posted the story yesterday before posting a whole lot of other chapters. However, somehow I screwed up and posted the chapter invisible, to make matters even worse I sent Art an email telling him that I had posted the chapter. Art emailed me that the story wasn't showing up on the site, I checked and he was right so I immediately posted the chapter as Published New and made sure that it was actually visible. I then got out of bed and immediately posted Chapter Two. I won't be posting any more chapters today, I will resume posting tomorrow.


I apologize both to Art and to his dedicated readers for screwing up so bad twice in one week. This is not the way to start off the New Year for one of my authors and his readers. Because the chapter wasn't visible in the Newest Chapter List it wasn't included in the latest Newsletter, and for this, I apologize as well. I am starting a Posting Checklist to help ensure that this doesn't happen again. Art and his readers deserve no less from me. I thank Art for allowing me to host his wonderful stories.

I have good news and bad news, I have just finished posting nine chapters of Livestock by Dee Jones, unfortunately, those are the last chapters I have. I have sent Dee an email asking for more chapters, fingers crossed.

Dark Link 2010 has brought us Chapter Two of When I Lost My Virginity.

Geron Kees brings us two new stories including a Christmas Story and he has more new stories in the pipeline.

Maxieplus is still posting like a madman and I hope that he never stops! There is a trifle of bad news hidden in his postings though one of his stories has come to an end. However, it is the end of Book One so there is hope. 

Jeff P. has brought us"Sentenced to Life: Chapter 18 - Loose Ends" in what we believe will be the final CSU posting for 2017. 

Chowhound brings five more chapters of Three Finger Cove: Charles ~ Book Three.

December 29, 2017: TMASEW AKA The Most Amazing Story Ever Written

We are proud to announce that TMASEW is now available on this site. What do you ask is TMASEW AKA The Most Amazing Story Ever Written? Well, it is a wild and crazy roller coaster of an idea started by Jeff's Fort years and years ago. It is a basically a round-robin story with multiple authors contributing. The rules are basic - each author writes one chapter that must take into account previous chapters, and must add a twist to the chapter before turning it over to the next author. One or two characters must be added to each chapter, seriousness is discouraged, impossibility is just a plot twist, and cliffhangers are required! Somehow I ended up writing the Opening and Closing Chapters of Book One of this insanity and believe me it is insanity. Years, after Book One was completed a Book Two, was begun with several chapters written. Unfortunately, the story disappeared into cyberspace and was lost for almost a decade. Well, for good or bad I and some others were able to recover most of the chapters. Against my better judgement ( ;) ) we have reposted all of the found chapters on F.R.E.D. To make matters worse or is that better Sean Short and Danny Page of Memories and Sentenced to Life Fame wrote a completely twisted Chapter Three of Book Two. If that isn't scary enough they shanghaied me into writing Chapter Four of Book Two. However, I think I will have either 'Goos' and Jonah write it or the two 'imps' L'ogen and C'obi write it instead. You will just have to wait and see.

Thanks to Santa Akeentia and his helpful Elves Jeff's Fort, ACFan and The Story Lover we have a wonderful Christmas Present for all of you and we are proud to present F.R.E.D. , what you may ask is F.R.E.D. Funny Thing F.R.E.D. is a what and a who, F.R.E.D. is The Fort Family of Sites revived and totally new Events Site AKA Fort Readers Event District that just happens to be run by Fred, Fred The Elf AKA  "Fred DeElve" who is a character that has been on our forum for quite some time. What brought this and the software upgrades to happen at the same time? Well, it seems that I realized that after recovering and all of the previous Christmas Events from the Fort Family Forum back to life last year I had started a huge snowball rolling and it kept getting bigger and bigger. When I decided to revive The Christmas Short Story Event I realized that we had a big problem in order to do the event right and continue with new events we needed a new Events Site so with the help of the forenamed crew F.R.E.D was born. Problem solved right? Unfortunately No, you see for F.R.E.D. to work correctly with all of the other Fort Family Sites all of those sites needed to be running the same software so Santa Akeentia toiled for hours and hours Saturday giving all of the sites an early Christmas Present brand spanking new top of the line software. While there are a few cosmetic upgrades there a lot of new fun toys for the Admins and Authors to play with. I wanted to take a moment to wish all of you a very happy holiday season. 2017 has marked some significant milestones. There has been good and bad, but in my opinion, being part of this community has been one of the major blessings of my life.

The past couple of weeks have presented some serious hardships for me personally, but the support and well wishes I've received from not only others involved with the Fort Family Sites, but from so many of you loyal readers has sweetened what could have been a very bitter pill.

It is my wish that for all of you, 2018 brings you health, happiness, and allows you to achieve all that you desire.

Early in 2018 there will be more from Voyagers, Priorities, Streetbound, and Full Circle. Also, who knows what else will work its way out of the mind of my muse.

 

To TSL, AC, JeffP, and all of the others involved in CSU and the Fort Family sites may 2018 show continued growth.

One final wish... To Akeentia, you have been a blessing to all of us. Your talent has shown through in making the family of sites second to none.

Your authors need your help. As many people are aware, a certain chat service that specialized in advanced conference features has finally been overworked to the point of actually being unusable for our team. Since 2004, The Fort Family Authors Group, and all contributing authors to the "Clan Short Universe" series have heavily relied on this chat client and recent developments have made work behind the scenes difficult and even impossible in some cases. This means work being released can be severely delayed in some cases, which is already something that we try to avoid whenever possible.

In researching possible replacements, "Discord" is an absolute front-runner, with one glaring exception. There is a character limit placed on all servers that make it difficult to work with larger bodies of text. (That's a huge issue actually.) So, why am I posting this tonight? We need your help.

The feature change is possible but, the way Discord prioritizes its growth is through a request and upvote system. (Actually, a really cool process.) So we need to ask for your help. If you are a Discord user, please click the link below and upvote this topic. If you aren't a user, check out the chat client, it was designed with gamers in mind but is awesome for collaborating, congregating or even just hanging out. Maybe create a login and when you do, maybe give this feature an upvote...maybe < GRIN >

Sorry for the lack of News Posts since Thanksgiving, I have been busy writing and working on several projects in the background

As of today, we have Seventy~Two Authors, Four Hundred and Forty~Three Stories and Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty~Seven Chapters! And there is still a lot more chapters to come.

Attention everyone,
I am proud to announce the Fort Family of Sites 2017 Christmas Short Story Event. While this event is mostly for our hosted authors any author may enter. Non-hosted authors need to check out the following link ~ Hosting and Story Submissions for submission guidelines. This event is called The 2017 Christmas Extravaganza. The rules are short and sweet, The Short Story must be:

1. Written this year
2. Be between 500 and 15,000 words (Not etched in stone)
3. Have Christmas and 2017 in the title, somewhere anywhere. (My Story ~ Christmas 2017 for example)
4. Edited entries due by December 22, 2017
5. Unedited entries due by December 18, 2017
6. No Guarantee that late entries will be posted. (Don't tell anyone, but we have posted stories right up to 11:59 PM PST.)
7. Submit all entries to submissions.storylover.us'at'gmail.com - Subject= Christmas Story 2017 replace the 'at' with @
8. Give permission for the Fort Family of Sites to host and or co-host your story. Copyright remains with the author!

I would like to wish all of you that celebrate Thanksgiving a very Happy, Safe and Healthy one. I am very thankful for all of the authors that have allowed me to host their stories for all these years. I am also thankful for all of the site's readers, especially those that take the time to comment on the site and its stories. I am also thankful for those folks from the Fort Family of Sites that have helped me and my site throughout the years. November 17, 2017: The News That TSL Forgot to Post!

Oops, I said that the Authours of Voyagers and their Guest Author The Story Lover would be releasing Chapter Eighteen soon. I meant to say that they would be releasing Chapter Seventeen shortly. Well, in fact, the aforementioned authors have released Chapter Seventeen: Zorn ~ Part Two of Voyagers last night. Yes, it is filled with Zorn this and Zorn that, TSL better be writing a lot more about me if he knows what is good for him!

Also, that lazy so and so forgot to post a News Post with all of the work that he and his authors have done since he last posted a News Post. So I will have to do it for him again. What would he do without me?

The missing Chapter One of Riding Lessons: Book Three ~ Second Chances by Andrew Todd has been found and posted thanks to the reader that brought it to TSL's attention.

I have given TSL the rest of the week off from posting site updates. His other authors will continue to post their own updates as normal.

TSL is going to be very busy writing especially about glorious me, Jonah, Just', and Joth.

I have also promised Cousin Neal that I will try and get him busy writing Chapter Two of Phoenix to the Rescue.

The Authors of Voyagers will be posting Chapter Eighteen of Voyagers in the near future guest authored by TSL.  I am not happy that he had time to write about a new character named Zorn, but didn't have time to write about me. I think I will take away his 'Cinmon Crumbles'!

Don't worry, I will keep a good eye on the site and keep it running smoothly. If I run into any problems I will just ask Uncle Akeentia for help.

November 3, 2017: Bullying must stop!

This morning, November 2, 2017, the son of a friend of mine took his own life due to being bullied for having come-out. Any time I hear of a young person taking such an ultimate action like this it rips another tear in my heart.

It seems that Jeremy told one of his friends who in-turn told some of their other friends. The usual grapevine ensued and eventually the wrong person heard the news. He tormented Jeremy to the point where he actually went to his guidance counselor at school and, according to the note he left, was told to just "Man Up" and take it.

To me, it's reprehensible that someone in a position to offer support and guidance to our youth would be so callous and insensitive to what is a severely growing problem in our society. In his memory, I will be dedicating the next chapter of Full Circle to Jeremy.

Dear Readers,

I forgot to announce that True Fan's, Short Story What Will They Think is now a Serialized Story. It looks like the reader demand for more convinced him to continue the story. He has now posted Chapter Two aka Full Circle Part 1.

So, readers, as you can see there are obvious benefits to writing to authors and letting them know what you think of their stories. Authors may decide to continue their stories and the number of stories on the Fort Family Sites that have been continued for that reason alone are many. There are quite a few stories also hosted on the Fort Family Sites by authors such as ACFan, Str8mayb, myself and more that have written a reader into a story and have written readers' suggestions into their stories.  So please continue letting the authors know what you think of their story the results just may amaze you! Three stories jump out at me that were continued by readers demands, Sean's Angel by Hal, Holiday Handoff by MultiMapper and The Ghost of Christmas Present by yours truly. There are quite a few more but those are the one popped into my at the moment. There are probably a few CSU Stories that could be added to that list as well.

Do most authors want negative as well as positive comments? Most authors do as long as they are written in a positive fashion and not just flames! Writing something like 'you and your story stink' will get binned! But something like, 'your characters are a little shallow, there isn't enough detail on them, or 'your dialogue is confusing, I can't tell which character is speaking' would be immensely helpful to an author.  So please let us know what you think of our stories, why you like them and even why you don't like them. All of us well except for me aren't too old to learn something new. wink

ACFan, JeffP, TSL, Darryl, Boudreaux, D&B (one of whom is sorely missed), and several other contributors over the past 15 years have made us laugh, cry, spit in anger and show other emotions not fit for description in mixed company. 

I wanted to offer my thanks to these individuals for proving that a group can come together and give all of us entertainment of the highest caliber.

October 22, 2017: CSU Fifteenth Anniversary Posting Extravaganza!

Back on October 22, 2002, The very first chapter of a story that would soon become the foundation of what the Fort Family now know as "The Clan Short Universe" (CSU). ACFan Unknowingly launched one of the largest amateur collaborative works on the web which in time, would involve multiple authors and birth many alternate realities, fan fiction and a slew of original content created by fans and official authors alike.


Return to current time: October 22, 2017

It is now fifteen years later, and my dream that wouldn't stop until I wrote it down is stronger than ever. Between multiple authors and readers contributing their own dreams, and my own additions to the fabric of the universe, what started as a small story has become a major project that has had an effect on multiple lives.

As I write this, I am in conversation with quite a few of the core authors who were instrumental in turning a single story into a Universe.  In no particular order, the following authors are responsible for giving me the support and advice that made my story into the CSU: Darryl (aka Sleeping Beauty), Akeentia, TSL, JeffP, and MultiMapper. As other authors have come and gone, those four have always been responsible for creating the foundation that it was all built on. With the relatively recent addition of TheEggman to the team, this core group is responsible for even more quality in the stories.

Unfortunately, we did lose one author from our group; Dave of D&B is sorely missed, and to this day we are still trying to ensure that we do the characters he created justice. Other authors have moved on to other projects or have had changes to their daily lives that preclude having writing time, but the core group is together once more and supporting each other as our characters move forward.

Most of all, thank you to the readers, some of which have been reading since the very first post. Your feedback and ideas have been greatly appreciated, and at times have pushed us towards finishing something that was stalled.

It has been an amazing fifteen years, and I'm looking forward to the next five years of story progression! Thank you to each and every one of you!

A new author Luiz has joined the site with the first of his stories. Luiz is Brazillian that writes impactful stories in English. Three of his stories were written when he was seventeen, the other two when he was in his mid-twenties.

Zarek Dragon has also posted a new story.

Zeke by David Lee is now complete.

Chapter Five of Livestock by Dee Jones has been transferred.

Five more Short Stories by Graeme have been transferred.

Two more chapters of One Dark Night by Rob have also been transferred. These chapters take a little more work as I format the song lyrics in the chapters.

We also have five more chapters of Moon Watching by Sequoyah Pendor.

I have to apologize upfront for the extremely long length of this News Post. I have been so busy posting and writing the last two weeks that I forgot to take time out to make the News Posts. On top of my posts, my authors have been extremely busy posting their own stories. So pull up your most comfortable chair along with your favourite beverage and get comfy.

To start off we have a brand new Short Story by Geron Kees titled Sprookjes ~ The Third Tale from The Amsterdam Tales.

Finding Clarity, the Golden Semicolon Award Winner by MultiMapper is now complete. Shadeside has made its way to the site as well.

Connections by Tyler Christopher is complete, Near Wild Heaven is also complete. We have the first chapter of Tearing Me Apart as well.

We have also started transferring Moon Watching by Sequoyah Pendor from the Original Site.

We will continue transferring stories and chapters from the Original Site as fast as we can, we are getting near to the end of the transfers.

This weekend will be wild and wooly as we have possibly three new authors and their stories joining the site. We also have new stuff from our existing authors as well. We also have some new pages under the Features Section: Hosting and Story Submission and the FAQ has been updated.

Don't forget the only way to feed the authors' muse is to let them know that you are reading their stories and what you think of them! They really do love to hear from their readers and they will respond to you. Be careful what you write and what you say or it or even you may find yourself or your ideas in their next chapter or next story.

Just got through helping Boudreaux add some exciting new work for you all to check out. There is a new chapter of "Twists of Time" and he has begun a new story called "Fantasy Faire" which is beginning with a pretty long first chapter. Make sure to grab a snack before you get into it. He has also posted a new short story named "Skinny Dipping" which is a really nice story that resonates with a lot of our own teen years. Be sure to check them all out and don't forget to let him know what you think.

The GFCI Breaker in my kitchen tripped and I can't get it to reset. I will be putting the site updates that I do and have more on hold until I can get my kitchen working again. My Stove, refrigerator and kitchen lights are dead until I can get the breaker reset or replaced. And find the problem that caused it to trip.

The massive remodelling and update of The Annex Down Under has been completed. The Annex was our very first Fort Family Site. The site has been renamed to its original name The Annex. The new site has the same streamlined and mobile-friendly looks as the rest of The Fort Family Sites. It has all of the original content and more, plus all of the new bells and whistles. Thanks to our amazing Programmer Akeentia and upload/transferring help from Jeff P. the site is now live and ready for Prime Time.

I am busy working on a special project and will post more updates including a New Author during breaks from the special project.

Zarek Dragon, True Fan, Douglas DD and Boudreaux have been busy posting lots of new chapters. Even ACFan got into the act and Chapter Twenty-Four: Brothers of Memories Part 3 is here and available for your reading pleasure. The server this site is hosted on is based in Florida and is experiencing a few issues.

Dee Jones' publisher has requested that all of her stories except for Livestock be removed from this site due to publication or pending publication. I have complied with that request and also posted the first two chapters of Livestock.

Another chapter of  Two Spirits in One World  and the first chapter of a New Story Ten Steps Down by Owen Hudson. We have transferred all of the chapters of Murder at Glencoe by Michoel Thornton; unfortunately Michoel developed some serious health issues and was unable to finish this story.  We also have five chapters of Part II ~ Domus ~ Book I of The Centurion Cycle. We have also begun transferring One Dark Night by Rob.

Please keep all of the folks that have been displaced and otherwise suffered from the wildfires in Oregon and other parts of the Northwest; in your thoughts and prayers. Please also keep those that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey and those  affected by Hurricane Irma in your thoughts and prayers as well; as they recover from the devastion of those storms.

It appears as though The Story Lover's Home is being a bit stubborn today and is refusing to display New Chapters from it's sister sites. After a huge amount of work, "Memories Part 3, Chapter 24: Brothers" is finally live and you can read it by clicking here! It is the welcomed continuation of the ever expanding Clan Short family and really touches on quite a few important events. Part of it is actually fulfilling the work of one of our authors who has since passed away. (Dave of D&B) I've seen bits and pieces of this story while it was in production so I gotta warn ya, be ready for quite a ride. I actually plan to ignore everyone else until I've read it myself :)

Sorry for the technical issues. Our main technician is currently weathering a severe storm so, it will be a while before we can ask him to kick start it ;) (Thinking of ya Akeentia! Stay safe!)

Due to high pollen counts and large amounts of smoke where I live I haven't been able to post many updates the last couple of weeks. I wish I could say it is getting better but it is actually getting worse. Hopefully we will get a break on Friday if the forecasted Thunderstorms arrive. We are under a Smoke Air Quality Alert until noon Friday. 

 The smoke and pollen have been causing lots of problems with my allergies and Asthma. As soon as I can I will resume mass updates, until then I will post as I can.

However, there will still be updates as my authors update their stories.

 I hope to be back posting lots of updates soon.

I am replying only to emails that require a reply, I will get to all of the emails as soon as I can.

Greetings to all. After a hiatus caused by external demands, The Authors of Voyagers has completed work on Voyagers Chapter 14. It's bound to answer a few nagging questions, and open your eyes to new events and intrigue.

As one of the Authors, I was amazed at how well this chapter turned out. We expect to post it here in the next day or two, as soon as our final edit and beta process is complete.

We will endeavour to get future chapters out as quickly as possible but will not be posting on any set schedule. We'd rather be able to present to you high quality chapters such as we feel this one is.

In addition... Chapter 16 will feature a surprise... one that you won't want to miss. 

We'd love to hear from you about how you like the story. Simply hit the link at the end of every chapter to send us an email letting us know how you like the story. The transfer of chapters from the Original Site has resumed and some new chapters by existing authors have also arrived.

We would like to welcome Art West and his stories to our site. Art is just beginning as an author and we rescued him from Nifty. Today we have the Prologue and Chapter One of Major Adjustment which is available only here.  In the next few days or so we will also have a slightly revised version The Start of Something Great; which is currently available on Nifty in an unedited version.  There are also two more stories of Art's in the work and they will make their way here shortly.

Now it is time to pay the piper! All of the authors on this site myself included do not get paid to write and share our stories. The only method of payment we receive is comments from our beloved readers. So please if you enjoy a story , please let the author know what you think. A lot of the stories on this site have a link at the bottom of each chapter to email the author; for those chapters that don't just click on the authors'  emai address at the end of the disclaimer/copyright notice at the top of every chapter. Although a lot of authors write for themselves we all like to hear that readers are reading our stories and what they think. Please at least say thank you to the authors so we can keep on sharing their words with you. There are too many authors that are no longer around because of lack of feedback; so please give them all some feedback.

July 17, 2017: Thanks for caring about my mom

I want to thank everyone that has asked about my mom. Since she started chemo, she has been very sick. Her treatments are three weeks apart and she has been very ill more than two weeks after each session. She spent a few days in the hospital from the reaction to the last session and Doctors and nurses have advised her that her reaction to the treatment isn't normal. Mom has decided that she would rather live than just be alive, and while I don't want to lose her period, let alone sooner than I must, I also don't like seeing her suffer like she has been.

And, as a result of dealing with all the stress, Still Another Chance and Voyagers is are on temporary hold. While I am only one of the three authors, of Voyagers, one of the other authors is dealing with his own health issues, so his stories are on hold as well.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.
They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.

Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKean was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.

He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding.

His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Ellery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters.

He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives.

His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

 

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots.

It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Thanks Jeff for posting that announcement for me; I was having Internet diffigulties and couldn't access the site to post. Updates will resume tomorrow with a new chapter of The Wizard Heart by Darrin Thomas. [Update 7/03 The chapter wasn't complete and had to be re-edited.]

Scribe 1971 is almost completely revovered from a seriuos blood ailment which was nearly fatal. He is back writng again and getting better and should have chapters for us soon. Keep him in your thoughts and send some postive thoughts his way.

Our wonderful programmer Akeentia has done it again you can now sort the authors with the "Sort by first letter" feature as well as the previous "All" view - which means a LOT less scrolling if you know what author you are looking for!

While it didn't show on the top of the list, there is a new story from Akeentia on the site - it is called "Operant Unconcious Project", and is available in "Active Authors Group"

Also, we are testing out a new feature that will interconnect stories on multiple Fort Family sites - occasionally there might be a story that has temporary issues due to it being converted for sharing; these issues should only last a minute or two at the most.

We are in the process of mass adding stories from other sites particularly the CSU and Haven Universe Stories and we will try and announce them as I post them.

The first new stories are  Operant Unconscious Project Book One and Book Two by Akeentia ~ courtesy of The Padded Room.

We also have Ark, Falling, Savant, Drifting Dreams, and Hello all by Akeentia ~ courtesy of The Padded Room as well.

The Haven Universe and The CSU will be appearing shortly.

No Dennys really hasn't closed but Jeff P. has finally finished A Penny on the Train Tracks - yes you read that right after fourteen years that story is finally finished. Yes it is a wonderful day and yet a sad one as well; no more chapters about Mikey. What makes this story so special; well this story is one of the reasons that this site is here. APTT was one of the first stories that I read from what would eventually become the Fort Family Sites. But that isn't all this story has a very important tale to tell and it is compelling reading. So please take some time to read it.

June 11, 2017: Posting Update

I have to apologize for my lack of posting this week; it seems every tree in my city bloomed this past week and my allergies blossomed as well. If that wasn't enough we had lots of Thunderstorms which limited my computer use. I have tried to rectify the situation by posting a bunch of chapters yesterday and today. Forbidden Fruit by David Lee is now complete.

DouglasDD, MrM, Geron Kees, and the Voyagers Authors have been busy posting as well. I will continue to post chapters as fast and as often as I am able. Zarek Dragon and TrueFan are helping as well their health and writing permitting.

We have new stories from Arthur and MultiMapper.

We now have 2942 Chapters available for your reading pleasure.

Sequoyah Pendor's A Special Place, The Concord Five, and The Oberlin Five are now complete and ready to read.

We now have over 2900 Chapters for your reading pleasure.

Thanks to DD and all of you that donated money; with your donations and a bit of savings I now have a new keyboard and a new monitor. The new monitor displays colours much better than the old one.

May 27, 2017: Bootbox

You ever have a thought or a part of your story that you wanted to show a thought but didn't want to confuse the reader by having it in there? That is a good place for Bootbox.

Example:

Jim looked at his best friend and said, "I'm happy just being with you." But he really thought, "I wonder what it would be like giving him head."

Using Bootbox, it could be...

Jim looked at his best friend and said, "I'm happy just being with you." (bootbox start)I wonder what it would be like giving him head.(bootbox break) He really thought. (bootbox end)

What the reader would see is...

Jim looked at his best friend and said, "I'm happy just being with you." He really thought.

And when they clicked on "He really thought." they would see

I wonder what it would be like giving him head.

Mind you, that really isn't confusing, but is a simple sentence to show how BootBox works... I'm sure some of you are aware of how to use this, but myself, I needed to see an example of how to do it, so I am passing that information along. Other uses for bootbox would if you used a foot note, or if you use a foreign language and want to NOT have the translation in the story... There are many uses for hiding text, but making it available for the reader with just a click.

May 25, 2017: More Chapters and a New Story

Well folks I did get a few more chapters posted, albeit a bit later than i had planned. DouglasDD has been busy as well. Ivor Slipper has brought us a New Short Story with a twist and it is the very first story of its type on the site.

Don't forget to drop a line to the authors and tell them thanks for writing their stories.

Thanks again for those of you who have donated funds toward the new keyboard and monitor. The new keyboard is working great, however, I need a few more bucks for the new monitor.

Folks I will be taking a posting break until this coming Wednesday evening; I need to spend some time away from my computer and let my back relax a bit. I will still be checking emails and will respond as soon as I can. There is still a lot of new material to read.
 
I forgot to mention that AC posted Chapter Twenty Three of Memories Book Three on  his site AC's Corner Cafe.  I strongly suggest that you read A Subconscious Dream by yours truly first as it will add some clarity to the chapter.

May 21, 2017: Voyagers' Faster Than Light Speed

We added a "Faster Than Light" Chart and Graph to the SS Sooloo Spec Page so that when we mention a speed, you can determine how fast the ship is traveling. And if you get the gumption to compare it to Star Trek's Warp, you will notice that it is NOT the same.

I have finished posting all Fifty Nine Chapters of A Special Place by Sequoyah Pendor. This story is one of my favourites of all time. I will start posting The Concord Five and The Oberlin Five tomorrow. These stories will be posted as a single story instead of two separate stories. The chapter numbers will contain the Chapter Number and The Story Title. The stories need to be read in the chronological order that they were posted in; other wise they don't make a whole lot of sense. You may read two chapters of one story then one of the other and vice a versa. However, once you start reading everything will make sense.

I have created a link page to the 'Original Site' in order that the readers who are reading a story that hasn't been transferred yet can finish that story.

The Link Page is under 'Features' and is called 'Original Site Link' . I hope that this is helpful and I apologize for the oversight. I hope that everyone is enjoying this wonderful new site.

Welcome to The Story Lover's Home this is a totally redesigned site and should be easier and faster to use. We have five New Authors: ColumbusGuy, MrM, Geron Kees, Don Cornelius and Ivor Slipper. We also have New Stories by some of our existing authors.

This site is still under construction and we will be posting more chapters daily. The Clan Short Universe and The Haven Universe are on hold and will be posted once some more software fixes in the background are completed.
